Rainy Day Mental Health Check

How do you keep your mental health in check on rainy or stormy days when you're stuck in the house?

On rainy, stormy days like today I have to be very careful to not get depressed. So on days like today, I love to throw on my favorite holy sweats, favorite Tshirt and top it off with a favorite sweatshirt. Yesterday I got to work outside in the yard and play with my garden beds prepping them for planting time. So getting all that sun and nice weather was really great. Then waking up today to storms again and 46 degree weather was a downer lol.

So here are some things I've been doing in my house today to get this the storms.

I am currently making some blankets to give to a local church in town who distributes free food to the community in need. I used to sew and give away anywhere from 50 to 90 blankets every winter to those less fortunate in my area. But it just kind of got out of hand. It's sad that people will take advantage of your kindness. At first I was taking my free blankets to the community donation box and dropping them off there, but there's always that one person who takes everything out of the box and leaves nothing for anyone else. Then I actually had people scorning me for doing that. They were saying, "How can you do that when people take the blankets to sell them for drugs?" lol, This is the way I see it. Once I dropped the blankets off, I had done my good deed. It was in God's hands after that. Who cares if someone sells the blanket to someone else for drugs. Atleast the person who bought the blanket had a warm night with something to cover them up! SO after all the stones being thrown at me on Facebook from people, I decided to just start hand delivering my blankets. My husband and I would drop off blankets at people's doors if they would email me etc. letting me know that they needed blankets to stay warm. Well, then I got attacked by a dog one day delivering blankets. The lady contacted me saying she needed 5 blankets, so I worked so hard for 2 days making the blankets. Delivered them to her and her dogs attacked me while she watched out the window. Not even helping me. My pants were ripped and even one of my socks. So after that, I stopped making free blankets for people. So anyway! whew! That was a long story. haha. So now I have decided to just make them for a local church. People picking up food can get a blanket and easy peasy.

So sewing is one thing I do. Another thing I do is mess around with  my house plants. I absolutely LOVE my house plants. I love them so much, that I make starts from them and grow the starts to make new plants and I love to give those away. It's so healing messing around with plants so when I can't do it outside, I do it inside!

Blogging. Everyone already knows I love to blog everyday. It's so fun to share my stories with others. Even though my l ife is pretty, pretty boring, I like to share how boring it is with everyone lol. But if you can't blog, you should most definitely get a notebook and start journaling. Writing about your day is very healing to your  mental health. Plus you don't have to worry about no one not paying attention because it's what's in your heart so that don't matter.

Reading. I love love love to read and I like to read on rainy days. There is nothing better than letting your mind wonder into another world while you read so many exciting stories from other peoples minds. If you've never read, just start with something small. You will be hooked, I promise!

Another thing I like to do on rainy days is pamper my pets. I have an older poodle mix doggie named Maddy. I got to recuse her from a shelter and she really loves bath time and snuggles. So I like to take short naps with her during the day. I also have 2 cats. I have a long haired Persian and a short haired exotic Persian. My short hair cat she is hateful haha but my long hair cat is very loving and loves to cuddle to. So it's very important to pamper your little fur babies. They are a part of your family, not just a pet. My pets are my babies haha.

So anyway, I hope you enjoyed my blog today, I am waiting for a phone call from my book publisher today. My book is so close to being published on Amazon that I can taste it!

See you all tomorrow!
