Are you Ambidextrous?

Are you left handed, right handed or even both? This is a cool little story!

So let's begin with this....my condition is actually very strange and I'll explain it to you in a bit.

What is Ambidexterity?
Ambidexterity means having the ability to use both hands with equal skill and dexterity. It's not just about being able to switch hands, but about performing tasks equally well with either hand.
There is also a term called Mixed-Handedness. What is that? Here is the difference between the two.
Ambidexterity vs. Mixed-Handedness:

Ambidextrous: Can perform tasks equally well with either hand.
Mixed-Handedness: Prefers a certain hand for a certain task, but can use both hands.

Natural ambidexterity is relatively rare, with estimates suggesting that only 1% of the population is naturally ambidextrous. So if someone tells you that they are, you might want to have them prove it to you.

So with what I have is very strange and I've had it all my life. I've always written with my left hand. I am the youngest of three siblings. My oldest sibling is also left handed. Middle sibling being right handed. With my brother, he is the other sibling that is left handed. He strictly does everything only left handed. Just like a normal right handed person.

I write left handed, but everything else that I do is only completely right handed. I shoot a bow and a gun right handed, I play all sports right handed, etc...BUT I can't for anything write right handed. With it feeling so strange to me, I even wear my iPhone watch on my left wrist like I'm right handed. And that's VERY annoying because it makes it difficult for me to write or type with a watch on my left wrist. Isn't that strange? It's like I was supposed to be right handed, but refused for some reason. But I've tried to wear the watch on my right wrist and I just can't do it. It drives me mad!

See, our father was a bit of an abuser, so everytime my big brother would write with his left hand, my father would stab him in the hand with a fork or anything in reach to get onto him. My dad didn't want my brother to be left handed.
Maybe I was left handed, but the fear of getting stabbed with something in my left hand made me learn everything right handed? All I do know is that it kinda sucks. Here they say what may be a few causes for it.

Possible Causes:
Brain Imbalance: Some theories suggest that ambidexterity may be due to an imbalance in the coordination between the brain's hemispheres.

Cultural Preference: It's also thought that some people who are ambidextrous may have been left-handed but learned to use their right hand due to cultural preferences.
Injury: Some people may become ambidextrous after an injury to their dominant hand forces them to use their other hand for daily tasks.

I mean, I know my brain is imbalanced quite a bit, and maybe that's why? But pretty much my whole life has been a rollercoaster of abuse.

There was also a study done in 2021 where they said it’s possible that genetics might play a role. Trusted Sources found seven gene variants associated with ambidexterity. However, more research was needed to understand these variants.

So are you like me? A weirdo? Let me know in the comments!
